RECORDING

The Planet Arts Recording Initiative was established as a comprehensive artist recording consortium to foster creative expression in an independent environment. The goal of the initiative is to develop and produce new and archival projects with a diverse group of artists and ensembles.

Production Series - Each production project functions as an individual partnership between the artist/ensemble and the organization. It is the intention of Planet Arts to establish working relationships that will allow artists to maintain creative and technical control of the music as well as joint ownership of the mechanical license of the recording.

Transit Series - The Transit Series was initiated to license, package, market and distribute existing, artist produced recordings and to assist artists and ensembles in the completion of pre-existing projects.

Archival Series - The goal of this initiative is to make deleted titles and rediscovered recordings available to the listening public.

To date, Planet Arts recording projects have received

nine  GRAMMY nominations, two GRAMMY wins and one AFIM award.

Current projects in production include:

A new recording from the National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master,  Jimmy Heath and  featuring new jazz orchestra compositions from the prolific pen of Mr. Heath.
