Hudson
Valley Jazz links two Planet
Arts initiatives creating a sequence of small and large venue performances in
the
Hudson
Valley
. An
integral part of the Hudson
Valley Jazz mission is to provide year-round music and educational outreach programs
in the Hudson Valley Region.
The Kingston Jazz Festival,
now in its third season, provides
a unique opportunity to establish and maintain an international music festival
in the Hudson Valley Region of New York State.
The festival is designed as a free event
featuring world class artists that address a diverse audience through
performances, a comprehensive education component and community outreach
programs. The goal is to create a music initiative in the City of
Kingston
and the Hudson Valley Region that will grow from the ground up, provide
economic stimulus to the business community, compliment activities and
initiatives of local cultural institutions
and attract an audience far beyond the boundaries of the
Hudson
Valley
.
The one2one Jazz Series, now
in its fourth season, was created to showcase exceptional
jazz artists in intimate settings and provide an outlet for musician/composers
to present new and adventurous music as well as innovative interpretations of
jazz classics. Produced
by Planet Arts and presented in association with the Hudson Valley Friends of
Jazz, the critically acclaimed one2one Jazz Series continues to be a creative
force in the
Hudson
Valley
.
The
Hudson Valley Jazz initiative
includes a comprehensive educational component for students and community
members. The goal is to establish
and sustain artistic relationships with artists, educators, students and
institutions. The aim is to
construct creative bridges that will: allow for a unique exchange of ideas and
methods, expand the American music vocabulary, and provide a unique opportunity
for artists, educators and students to further understand the origins and depth
of the creative process.
