Rethinking and reinventing the model
As is the case of many small not-for-profits, the 2008 economic downturn has had a lasting impact on the business and cultural activities of Planet Arts. However, we managed to stay solvent and continued to produce recordings, present concerts and provide educational workshops as outlined in our mission statement.
For the past three years we have been rethinking and reinventing our model while continuing to provide services to artists, ensembles and the arts community at large.
As we continue to present and record music we are moving toward a strategic plan that will allow us serve independent artists while meeting and increasing our fiscal goals.
Our adjusted model is designed to service independent artists of all genres and serve as a fee based link to the various aspects of the music industry pipeline.

Our plan for the coming years is to:
- Expand our artist services.
- Continue and expand our presenting and recording initiatives.
- Fully institute the Tone Structure Lab project, a cross-genre music incubator initiative designed to explore creative, experimental, improvised music.
- Expand our role in showcasing independent jazz and new music projects.
- Provide consulting services for ensembles and arts related organizations in the areas of project development and implementation, presenting, strategic planning, and arts education.
- Provide consulting services for recording artists to assist them in various aspects of record production, packaging, distribution and digital coding.
- Create new local, national and global partnerships.
- Take a more aggressive approach to corporate and foundation fundraising
- Increase our Board of Directors and Board of Advisors
- Align our organization for potential benefits from corporate sponsors
